Commissioning an artwork is all about communication, and I look forward to collaborating with you to create a cherished family heirloom...

The perfect reference photo... natural light, in focus, and close up! (Bonus points for bulldogs!)

The first and most important step to ensure you will get a high quality artwork is submitting a great, high quality reference photo. I cannot stress enough how critical your photo is! Photos need to be in sharp focus and ideally taken in shaded natural light, avoiding harsh sun and shadows as well as indoor lighting at nighttime. A close up photo taken at the pet's level is best, capturing as much detail as possible, especially in the eyes. Whimsical poses are also a great choice! Digital photos are preferred (sent in the highest resolution possible so I can zoom in on the details), although some newer model phones are able to provide a decent quality that I can work with if taken up close to the pet. It is difficult to capture the details and personality of your furry family member accurately if the photo you send me is blurry, poorly lit, far away or generally lacking in detail. I totally replicate your photograph of choice, so choose your BEST and FAVORITE one!*

Once you have submitted your fantastic usable photo and we have communicated and agree on the details (size, type of canvas, background, etc.) and cost of your portrait, your commission will be added to my queue. Orders are taken on a first come first served basis and my availability to begin on your painting will depend on my prior orders (I usually have several commissions in line at a time and currently I am booked about four months out!). I do not require a deposit, but I cannot hold a spot for you if I have not received your final photo choice and we have not confirmed the details of your artwork... This is because I need to know how long your commission will likely take me before I can take orders after you!

Once it hits my easel, your beautiful custom artwork will be hand painted with layers of professional acrylic paint on the canvas surface of your choice. Pieces generally take 2-3 weeks to complete once I begin, but this will vary depending on the size and level of detail of your painting.

When I feel I have perfectly captured your beast, I will send you a photo of the work for your approval. I want you to be completely in love with your painting, and will do my best to adjust it until you are! Once approved, I will apply several coats of varnish to protect the surface of the work, which will take about 48 hours to dry. At this time, I require full payment (plus shipping) before I will mail the work. Purchased portraits are then carefully packaged, insured for the cost of the piece and shipped out to you to treasure forever!
