I am a North Carolina based painter specializing in colorful custom pet portraits, and I have always loved art! I took lots of extracurricular art classes growing up and I even ended up making art my second major in college simply because I was taking so many classes for fun that I'd finished half the coursework! I went on to earn my Master's Degree in Art Education and taught sassy, fabulous middle schoolers for over a decade.
While earning my art degrees and also as an art teacher, I dabbled in and experimented with a lot of different mediums rather than concentrating on any one. It wasn't until I started painting some dogs for friends as gifts that I really felt like I found my niche in my own art-making. My energetic, bold and colorful style of painting lends itself to capturing the vibrant personalities and beauty of animal subjects, and it is something I have really come to love. When I am painting pets, I find that I'm smiling the whole time, which is how I know it is what I am meant to be doing!
My own two canine companions (English Bulldogs, Lola and Diesel) have shown me that pets truly are beloved family members, and I love the idea of capturing this special relationship for others. The best part is, my clients never complain that they had a bad hair day or that their nose looks too big! Most people ask me to paint their dogs or cats, but I'd be thrilled to paint any of your cherished pets- horses, cows, bunnies, lizards, chickens, birds... you name it!
